Gareth Owen Edwards CBE is a Welsh former rugby union player, born on July 12, 1947. He played as a scrum-half and is widely regarded as one of the greatest rugby players of all time. Edwards was a key player in the Wales national team during the 1960s and 1970s, contributing to their success in European rugby. He has won three Grand Slams and has been recognized for his exceptional skills and athleticism. In 2003, a poll conducted by Rugby World magazine named Edwards the greatest player of all time, and in 2007, he was ranked as the greatest player ever by former England captain Will Carling.
