Gary Sandy Biography
Gary Lee Sandy (born December 25, 1945) is an American actor best known for his role as program director Andy Travis on the television sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati (1978-1982). Born in Dayton, Ohio, Sandy attended Fairmont High School and later studied at Wilmington College and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He began his TV career with appearances on soap operas and guest roles on shows like Medical Center, Barnaby Jones, and Starsky & Hutch. Sandy's most notable role was on WKRP in Cincinnati, which was based on real experiences in the radio industry. In addition, he also replaced Kevin Kline as The Pirate King on Broadway in The Pirate in 1982.
