Gavan O'Herlihy

Gavan John O'Herlihy (29 July 1951 – 15 September 2021) was an Irish-American actor known for his roles in film and television. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Chuck Cunningham in the early episodes of Happy Days. O'Herlihy appeared in several notable films including Never Say Never Again, Death Wish 3, Willow, and Superman III. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he was the son of Irish actor Dan O'Herlihy and Elsie Bennett. Raised in both Malibu, California and Dublin, he attended Phillips Academy before studying at Trinity College, Dublin. With over thirty screen credits, O'Herlihy often played villainous or antagonistic characters, although he also achieved acclaim for his heroic role in the fantasy film Willow.
