Gavin Newsom

Gavin Christopher Newsom is an American politician and businessman who has been the 40th governor of California since 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Prior to becoming governor, Newsom served as the 49th lieutenant governor of California from 2011 to 2019 and the 42nd mayor of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011. Newsom graduated from Santa Clara University in 1989 and went on to found the PlumpJack Group, a successful business venture that manages 23 businesses including wineries, restaurants, and hotels. He began his political career in 1996 and has since held various positions in California politics, including serving on the Board of Supervisors and being elected mayor of San Francisco in 2003.
