Gemma Craven, born Rita Gemma Craven on June 1, 1950, is an Irish actress known for her work in film and television. After moving from Dublin to Britain in 1960, Craven attended St Bernard's Convent High School for Girls in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, where she studied alongside Helen Mirren. She gained recognition for her role as Joan Parker in the BBC TV drama Pennies From Heaven (1978). Craven's breakthrough came when she starred as Cinderella in the film The Slipper and the Rose (1976), earning her the nickname 'Cinderella' due to the serendipitous nature of her casting. She also achieved critical acclaim for her performances in West End productions such as They're Playing Our Song and Noël Coward's Private Lives.
