Jennifer 'Gemma' Jones (born December 4, 1942) is an English actress known for her diverse roles in both film and television. She has appeared in notable films such as Sense and Sensibility (1995), the Bridget Jones series (2001–2016), the Harry Potter series (2002–2011), You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010), and Ammonite (2020). Gemma gained recognition for her performance in the BBC television film Marvellous (2014) and won the 2015 BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her television credits include Rainbow City (1967), The Duchess of Duke Street (1976–1977), Trial & Retribution (2003–2008), Spooks (2007–2008), Teacup Travels (2015–2017), Diana and I (2017), and Gentleman Jack (2019). Born in Marylebone, Gemma Jones is the daughter of actors Irene and Griffith Jones. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where she was awarded the gold medal.
