Gene Evans Biography
Gene Evans (1922-1998) was an American actor known for his appearances in numerous television series, television films, and feature films from 1947 to 1989. Born in Holbrook, Arizona and raised in Colton, California, Evans began his acting career in summer stock at the Penthouse Theatre in Altadena after high school. During World War II, he served in the United States Army and performed with a theatrical troupe of GIs in Europe. Evans made his film debut in the 1947 movie Under Colorado Skies and went on to appear in many films and television programs, often playing tough characters such as soldiers and lawmen. He had a close working relationship with filmmaker Samuel Fuller, appearing in several of his films.
