Gene Simmons, born Chaim Witz on August 25, 1949, is an American musician known for his stage persona 'The Demon'. He is the bassist and co-lead singer of the hard rock band Kiss, which he co-founded in the early 1970s. Simmons was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of Kiss. Born in Haifa, Israel to Jewish immigrants from Hungary, Simmons spent his early childhood in Tirat Carmel. He was raised in a practicing Jewish household and experienced a difficult upbringing, as his family struggled financially. Simmons has become a well-known figure in the music industry, known for his distinctive makeup and stage presence.
