Geoffrey Chater Biography
Geoffrey Michael Chater Robinson (23 March 1921 – 16 October 2021) was an English film, television, and stage actor. Born in Barnet, Hertfordshire, he was the son of composer Lawrence Chater Robinson and actress Peggy. Chater's passion for the stage was ignited when he saw his mother perform at London St Martin's Theatre. After serving as a captain in the Royal Fusiliers during World War II, he pursued a career in entertainment. Chater appeared in numerous films, television shows, and stage productions throughout his career. His notable TV credits include Callan, Foyle's War, and Midsomer Murders. He passed away on 16 October 2021 at the age of 100.
