Geoffrey Hutchings Biography
Geoffrey Hutchings (8 June 1939 – 1 July 2010) was an English stage, film, and television actor. Born in Dorchester, Dorset, England, Hutchings attended Hardye's School before studying French and Physical Education at Birmingham University. He later joined the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1968. Hutchings played various Shakespearean roles, including Launce, Octavius Caesar, and Pandar. He gained recognition for his comedic performances and singing voice, winning a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy Performance for his portrayal of Lady Dodo in the musical Poppy. Hutchings also portrayed Carry On actor Sid James in the Royal National Theatre's production of Terry J.
