Geoffrey Rush Biography
Geoffrey Rush is an Australian actor known for his eccentric leading man roles on stage and screen. Born on July 6, 1951, he has achieved the Triple Crown of Acting, winning an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Tony Award. Rush has also received three British Academy Film Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and four Screen Actors Guild Awards. He is the founding president of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts and was named the 2012 Australian of the Year. Rush began his professional acting career with the Queensland Theatre Company in 1971 and later studied at the L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq. He has starred in international productions and made his Broadway debut in 2009, earning a Tony Award for his performance in Exit the King.
