George Winiata Henare, born on September 11, 1945, is a New Zealand actor known for his extensive career spanning over 50 years. Born in Gisborne, Henare is affiliated with the Māori tribes of Ngati Porou and Ngati Hine. He began his acting career after working as a postman and trainee teacher. Henare has played lead roles in various mediums, including film, television, opera, theatre, radio, and voice work. Notable appearances include his role as Bennett, a social worker, in the iconic New Zealand film Once Were Warriors.
