George Saunders

George Saunders (born December 2, 1958) is an American writer known for his short stories, essays, novellas, children's books, and novels. His work has been featured in prestigious publications such as The New Yorker, Harper's, McSweeney's, and GQ. From 2006 to 2008, Saunders contributed a weekly column titled American Psyche to The Guardian's weekend magazine. He is a professor at Syracuse University and has won numerous awards, including the National Magazine Award for fiction in 1994, 1996, 2000, and 2004. Saunders received a MacArthur Fellowship in 2006 and has also been recognized with the PEN/Malamud Award and the World Fantasy Award. His notable works include CivilWarLand in Bad Decline, In Persuasion Nation, and Tenth of December: Stories.
