George Segal Biography
George Segal Jr. (February 13, 1934 – March 23, 2021) was an American actor known for his work in the 1960s and 1970s. He gained popularity for his ability to play both dramatic and comedic roles. Segal rose to prominence with his performances in acclaimed films such as Ship of Fools (1965), King Rat (1965), and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966). Throughout the next decade and a half, he starred in a variety of notable films across different genres. Some of his notable works include The Quiller Memorandum (1966), The Hot Rock (1972), A Touch of Class (1973), and Fun with Dick and Jane (1977). Segal was recognized for being one of the first American film actors to achieve leading man status with an unchanged Jewish surname.
