George Robert Stephanopoulos (born February 10, 1961) is an American television host, political commentator, and former Democratic advisor. He currently co-anchors Good Morning America and hosts This Week, ABC's Sunday morning current events news program. Prior to his journalism career, Stephanopoulos was an advisor to the Democratic Party. He gained early prominence as a communications director for Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign and later served as White House communications director. Stephanopoulos was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, to parents of Greek descent. His father is a retired Greek Orthodox priest and dean emeritus of the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York City.
