He graduated from Syracuse University in 1968 with a degree in drama and quickly gained popularity as a character actor in the early 1970s. With over 100 guest appearances and nine co-starring roles in television series, Wyner has established himself as a versatile performer. Some of his notable roles include Assistant District Attorney Bernstein in Hill Street Blues, Colonel Sandurz in the film Spaceballs, and Rabbi Nachtner in A Serious Man. Wyner was introduced to producer Steven Bochco through his work on the series Delvecchio, which led to multiple collaborations on Bochco's subsequent shows.
