Geraldo Rivera, born Gerald Riviera on July 4, 1943, is an American journalist, attorney, author, and political commentator. He gained fame as the host of the tabloid talk show Geraldo from 1987 to 1998. Rivera is best known for his live 1986 TV special, The Mystery of Al Capone's Vaults. He worked at the Fox News Channel from 2001 to 2023, hosting the news magazine program Geraldo at Large and occasionally broadcasting Geraldo Rivera Reports. Rivera also served as a rotating co-host of The Five from 2022 to 2023. Born in New York City, Rivera comes from a mixed ancestry background, with his father being of Galego Spanish descent from Puerto Rico and his mother being Ashkenazi Jewish.
