Gilda Susan Radner (June 28, 1946 – May 20, 1989) was an American actress, comedian, writer, and singer. She rose to prominence as one of the original cast members of the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, where she showcased her talent for parodying television stereotypes. Radner's work on SNL earned her an Emmy Award in 1978. She also gained recognition for her successful one-woman show on Broadway in 1979, where she portrayed her iconic characters. Tragically, Radner passed away from ovarian cancer in 1989. Her autobiography candidly discussed her life, work, and personal struggles, aiming to raise awareness about the disease and support cancer victims.
