Gillian Leigh Anderson (born August 9, 1968) is an American and British actress known for her roles in various TV shows and films. She gained fame for portraying FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the series The X-Files. Anderson has also appeared as ill-fated socialite Lily Bart in The House of Mirth (2000), DSU Stella Gibson in The Fall, and sex therapist Jean Milburn in Sex Education. In the fourth season of The Crown, she played British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Anderson has received numerous awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and four Screen Actors Guild Awards.
