Gina Joy Carano, born on April 16, 1982, is an American actress and former mixed martial artist. Carano gained recognition for her involvement in EliteXC and Strikeforce, where she achieved a 7–1 record. She was often referred to as the 'face of women's MMA,' although she did not embrace this title. In 2009, Carano and Cris Cyborg made history by headlining the first major MMA event featuring women. After her first professional MMA defeat to Cyborg, Carano retired from competition. Carano transitioned to acting and secured her first major role in the action film Haywire (2011). She also appeared in Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and Deadpool (2016). From 2019 to 2020, Carano portrayed Cara Dune in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. Carano was born in Dallas County, Texas, and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her parents are Dana Joy Cason and former professional football player Glenn Carano.
