Glynn Russell Turman (born January 31, 1947) is an American actor, director, writer, and producer. He gained attention as a child actor in the original 1959 Broadway production of A Raisin in the Sun. Turman is known for his roles as Lew Miles on Peyton Place (1968–1969), Leroy 'Preach' Jackson in Cooley High (1975), and Bradford Taylor on A Different World (1988–1993). He also played Baltimore mayor Clarence Royce on The Wire and received an Emmy Award for In Treatment. Turman appeared as Jeremiah Kaan on House of Lies and Doctor Senator on Fargo. In 2020, he starred in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. Turman was born in New York City.
