Gregg Allman (December 8, 1947 – May 27, 2017) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He rose to prominence as a member of the Allman Brothers Band, known for their fusion of rhythm and blues, rock, jazz, and country. Allman co-wrote some of the band's biggest hits, such as 'Whipping Post' and 'Midnight Rider'. Following the tragic death of his brother and bandmate Duane Allman, Gregg continued to lead the Allman Brothers Band and released their most successful album, 'Brothers and Sisters'. He also pursued a solo career, releasing seven studio albums. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Allman spent his childhood in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Macon, Georgia.
