    Gwynne McElveen, born on 8 March 1974, is an American-born Irish actress. She gained recognition for her role as Tobis in the Syfy series Nightflyers, released in December 2018. McElveen is the second youngest of five children and was born in Los Angeles during a tremor. She and her family relocated to Ireland during her childhood. McElveen attended the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, where she made her non-professional stage debut in 1993. Her professional stage debut was in 1994's True Lines, directed by John Crowley. True Lines garnered critical acclaim, including the Stewart Parker Award, and was performed in Kilkenny, the Dublin Theatre Festival, and the Bush Theatre in London.
