Hal Holbrook Biography
Hal Holbrook (1925-2021) was an American actor known for his versatile performances in film, television, and theater. He gained critical acclaim for his one-man stage show, Mark Twain Tonight!, which he developed while studying at Denison University. Holbrook won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in 1966 for his portrayal of Mark Twain. He continued to perform this role for over six decades, retiring in 2017 due to health reasons. Throughout his career, he won five Primetime Emmy Awards for his television work and was nominated for an Academy Award. Holbrook's notable film appearances include All the President's Men (1976), in which he played Deep Throat, and miniseries like Lincoln (1973) and North and South (1985).
