Hale Appleman is an American actor known for his roles in movies and TV shows. He gained recognition for portraying Tobey Cobb in the 2007 film Teeth and Eliot in the popular television fantasy series The Magicians. Born and raised in Manhattan, New York, Appleman attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and spent summers at the performing arts summer camp French Woods. After briefly attending Carnegie Mellon, he dropped out to pursue acting. Appleman has appeared in stage productions, including Streamers, Paradise Lost, and Passion Play. He has also portrayed Bob in Moonchildren and Mercutio in The Last Goodbye. Additionally, he played the character Zach on the NBC series Smash. Appleman made his film debut in Beautiful Ohio.
