Harry Cheshire

Harry V. Cheshire (August 16, 1891 – June 16, 1968) was an American character actor known for his appearances in over 100 films. Born in Emporia, Kansas, Cheshire began his show business career in 1908 at the Old Nickelodeon Theater in Kansas City. He later worked with the Hi Jinks Company and Liberty Players acting troupes. Cheshire gained popularity as Pappy Cheshire on the St. Louis radio station KMOX. He played various small roles in films, including the minister who marries George Bailey and Mary Hatch in 'It's a Wonderful Life.' Cheshire's most notable role was Judge Ben Wiley on the TV show 'Buffalo Bill, Jr.'
