Herbert Jefferson Jr. is an American film, television, and stage actor, born on September 28, 1946, in Sandersville, Georgia. He grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey, and attended Lincoln High School. Jefferson briefly studied at Jersey City State College and Rutgers University before graduating with honors from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York in 1969. He further honed his skills at the HB Studio with William Hickey and Michael Becket, as well as at The Actors Studio with Lee Strasberg. Jefferson is best known for his role as merchant seaman Roy Dwyer in the award-winning TV miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man and its sequel. He has also appeared in other TV films and guest-starred in various pilot episodes.
