Hinemoa Elder
Hinemoa Elder is a New Zealand youth forensic psychiatrist, professor in indigenous research at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, and former television presenter. She is also a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and sits on the Māori Advisory Committee of the Centre for Brain Research. Prior to her medical training, Elder worked as an actress and television personality, including as a presenter on the children's television program 3.45 LIVE! on TVNZ. After her mother's breast cancer diagnosis, she pursued a career in medicine, specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry. Elder has also completed post-graduate studies in forensic psychology and her doctoral thesis focused on tikanga approaches for Māori children.
