Howard Shore Biography
Howard Leslie Shore (born October 18, 1946) is a Canadian composer, conductor, and orchestrator recognized for his film scores. With over 80 films to his credit, he is best known for his work on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies. Shore's contributions to The Lord of the Rings earned him three Academy Awards, including one for the song 'Into the West'. He has been a long-time collaborator with director David Cronenberg and has scored the majority of his films. Additionally, Shore has composed concert works such as the opera 'The Fly', based on Cronenberg's film, and has created pieces for orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Swiss 21st Century Symphony Orchestra.
