Butcher achieved the milestone of scoring over 1000 runs in a season twice, showcasing his skill and consistency. In 1988, he transferred to Gloucestershire, where he continued to contribute to the sport. However, after a couple of seasons, Butcher was released from the team. He is also recognized as the brother of former England Test player Alan Butcher and the uncle of Mark Butcher, highlighting his familial connections within the cricketing world.
