    Ibram Xolani Kendi, born Ibram Henry Rogers on August 13, 1982, is an American author, professor, anti-racist activist, and historian. He is known for his expertise in race and discriminatory policies in America. In July 2020, Kendi founded the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University, where he serves as the director. Kendi has been recognized for his influence, being included in Time's 100 Most Influential People of 2020. Born in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York, Kendi's parents, Carol and Larry Rogers, had middle-class professions in business and accounting respectively, and now both are retired and work as Methodist ministers.
