Ido Drent (born 27 January 1987) is a South African-born actor, currently based in Auckland, New Zealand. He gained recognition for his role as Daniel Potts in the popular soap opera Shortland Street. Born in Pretoria, Drent moved to New Zealand with his family in 1996. During his high school years in Hamilton, he excelled as a tennis player, even playing alongside well-known player Todd Breeze. After completing his education, Drent pursued a career in business and worked in property development. However, his passion for acting led him to explore opportunities in the industry. He began his journey as a model, signing with the 11 Modeling Agency. Drent also attended a Meisner Acting course and successfully auditioned for his breakthrough role on Shortland Street in 2008.
