Irene Tsu Biography
Irene Tsu is a Chinese-born actress who started her career in the film industry with her role in 'Flower Drum Song' in 1961. She gained recognition in the 1960s through her involvement in an advertising campaign called 'Wiki wiki dollar'. Tsu is fluent in English and three varieties of Chinese. Born on April 5, 1943, in Shanghai, China, Tsu's family left for Taiwan and then Hong Kong due to political changes. In 1957, she and her immediate family emigrated to Larchmont, New York. Tsu attended Mamaroneck Elementary School and studied ballet. Her talent and audition for 'Flower Drum Song' led to her later success in Broadway's 'The World of Suzie Wong' and various film and television appearances.
