Irving Bacon (born Irving Von Peters; September 6, 1893 – February 5, 1965) was an American character actor who appeared in almost 500 films. He began his career in films in 1912, working with Mack Sennett productions. Bacon played supporting roles in Sennett's silent and sound comedies, often portraying comical 'average guys.' He also appeared in films directed by Lloyd Bacon, although they were incorrectly reported as brothers in some sources. Bacon's versatility and established reputation as a utility player led him to replace Andy Clyde in a Sennett comedy. Throughout his career, he appeared in scores of feature films and continued working until his death in 1965.
