Isamu Tanonaka

Isamu Tanonaka (田の中 勇) was a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator. Born in Taitō, Tokyo, he gained recognition for his deep voice and talent in voicing characters with high-pitched voices. Tanonaka is best known for his role as Medama Oyaji in various adaptations of Shigeru Mizuki's GeGeGe no Kitarō. He was affiliated with Gekidan Tōgei and Theatre Echo before joining Aoni Production. Tanonaka had notable roles in Tensai Bakabon, Mazinger Z, Paul's Miraculous Adventure, Magical Princess Minky Momo, Akuma-kun, Dr. Slump & Arale-chan, Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken, and the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series. His portrayal of Medama Oyaji in the first GeGeGe no Kitarō anime solidified his place in the industry.
