Born in Los Angeles, Donner began working in the entertainment industry in the 1950s, making early appearances on TV shows like The Guiding Light and As the World Turns. He honed his craft in New York City regional and stock theater, performing for seven successive seasons. Throughout the 1960s, Donner had numerous guest star and co-starring roles in popular shows like The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Mission Impossible, Mannix, Kojak, and The Streets of San Francisco. However, he is most recognized for his portrayal of Romulan Subcommander Tal in the original Star Trek episode "The Enterprise Incident," and his return as a Vulcan priest in episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise. Donner's diverse career also included uncredited appearances in movies like The Wraith (1986) and Maverick (1994).
