Jack Garner Biography
Jack Garner (born Jack Edward Bumgarner; September 19, 1926 – September 13, 2011) was an American actor. He was best known for being the elder brother of actor James Garner. Born in Norman, Oklahoma, Garner grew up in a family that operated a general store. Following the death of their mother, Garner and his brothers were sent to live with relatives while their father remarried multiple times. Garner excelled in sports and was a star athlete at Norman High School, playing on the state championship basketball team in 1945. After a successful career as a minor league baseball pitcher, Garner later worked at golf courses in Florida. His athletic abilities were praised by his brother James Garner.
