Jack Starrett Biography
Jack Starrett (1936-1989) was an American actor and film director. He gained recognition for his role as Gabby Johnson in the 1974 film Blazing Saddles and as deputy Art Galt in First Blood (1982). Starrett appeared in biker films such as The Born Losers (1967) and Hells Angels on Wheels (1967), and directed films like Run, Angel, Run (1969) and Nam's Angels (1970). He also starred in Race with the Devil (1975) and played the foreman Swick in The River. Born in Refugio, Texas, Starrett worked in the oil fields before pursuing his acting career. He portrayed Coach Jennings in Like Father Like Son (1961) and reprised the role in The Young Sinner (1965) and Like Father Like Son (1987).
