James Colby

James Leo Colby (September 20, 1961 – February 23, 2018) was an American actor known for his work in film, television, and stage. Born in Arlington, Massachusetts, he studied at Bridgewater State University and Brooklyn College before moving to Manhattan in the 1980s to pursue his stage career. Colby appeared in multiple Broadway plays and stage productions in Connecticut. His notable film roles include The Peacemaker (1997), Tower Heist (2011), Safe (2012), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), and Patriots Day (2016). On television, he is known for his roles as Sergeant Ray Dwyer in Chicago P.D. and Burleson in Empire. Colby's stage credits include the 1992 Broadway production of Hamlet and performances at various Off-Broadway theaters.
