James Comey Biography
James Brien Comey Jr. (born December 14, 1960) is an American lawyer who served as the seventh director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2013 until his termination in May 2017. Comey was a registered Republican for most of his adult life but described himself as unaffiliated in 2016. Prior to his role at the FBI, Comey served as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York and later as the United States deputy attorney general during the administration of President George W. Bush. He has also held positions as a senior vice president and general counsel at Lockheed Martin and a general counsel at Bridgewater Associates. Comey is currently a senior research scholar and Hertog fellow on national security law at Columbia Law School.
