James E. Thompson Biography
James E. Thompson, also known as Jim Thompson, is an American businessman born on January 14, 1940, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was raised in Bayonne and lived in various places due to his father's service in the United States Navy, including Guam. Thompson attended San Jose State University, where he joined the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering, Thompson founded what is now known as The Crown Worldwide Group. In 1965, with only $1,000 in his bank account, he established Transport Services International in Yokohama, Japan, recognizing the need for an international moving service. The company expanded into Hong Kong in 1970 and has since become a global leader in the industry.
