James McArdle is a Scottish actor born on April 3, 1989. He is best known for his award-winning performances on stage. McArdle won the Ian Charleson Award for his portrayal of Mikhail Platonov in Platonov and was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role as Louis Ironson in Angels in America. Born and raised in Glasgow's Darnley neighborhood, McArdle attended St Ninian's High School and PACE Theatre Company in Paisley. After working as a child actor, he traveled to London at 17 to train at RADA. McArdle's notable roles include Macbeth at The Globe and Spur of the Moment at the Royal Court Theatre in London.
