James Waterston Biography
James Waterston is an American actor born on January 17, 1969. He is best known for his role as Gerard Pitts in the 1989 film Dead Poets Society. Waterston grew up in New York City and is the son of actor Sam Waterston and Barbara Rutledge Johns. He studied at Yale University, where he was a member of The Society of Orpheus and Bacchus, an all-male a cappella group. In addition to his film work, Waterston formed the theater company Malaparte with Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard, and also formed an improv/sketch group called Circus Maximus. Waterston has appeared in various other films and television shows throughout his career.
