Born on October 7, 1975, Hector began his acting career after high school, auditioning for a community theater company. He later appeared in various television shows such as New York Undercover, Third Watch, Law & Order, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Hector's breakthrough came with the movie Paid in Full (2002), but it was the short film Five Deep Breaths (2003) that garnered critical acclaim.
