Jane Greer Biography
Jane Greer (born Bettejane Greer; September 9, 1924 – August 24, 2001) was an American film and television actress, best known for her role as femme fatale Kathie Moffat in the 1947 film noir Out of the Past. Despite her talent, she never received an Academy Award nomination. Greer was born in Washington, DC, and in 1940, she overcame facial paralysis caused by a condition. This experience taught her the importance of facial expression in conveying human emotion. In 1945, she legally changed her name to Jane Greer. Throughout her career, she showcased her unique look and enigmatic expression, leading RKO to promote her as 'The Woman with the Mona Lisa smile'.
