Jane White (October 30, 1922 – July 24, 2011) was an American actress known for her Broadway and off-Broadway stage performances. She made her Broadway debut in 1945 in Strange Fruit, followed by roles in Razzle Dazzle, The Insect Comedy, The Climate of Eden, Take a Giant Step, Jane Eyre, and The Power and The Glory. In 1959, she originated the role of Queen Aggravain in the acclaimed musical Once Upon a Mattress. White received Obie Awards in 1966 for Love's Labour's Lost and Coriolanus, and in 1971 for sustained achievement. Born in New York City, she grew up in Harlem and was the daughter of civil-rights leader Walter Francis White.
