Janet Louise Hubert (born January 13, 1956) is an American film and television actress. She gained recognition for her portrayal of the original Vivian Banks on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air from 1990 to 1993. Hubert received an NAACP Image Award nomination for her role in 1991. In 2020, she earned her first Daytime Emmy Award nomination for her performance as Mignon on the digital series King Ester. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Hubert moved to rural Chicago with her family at the age of nine. She briefly studied at the Juilliard School in New York City. Hubert began her career in theater, making her Broadway debut in 1981.
