Janet Angel MacLachlan (August 27, 1933 – October 11, 2010) was an American actress known for her roles in various television series and films. She appeared in popular shows such as The Rockford Files, Alias, All in the Family, and The Golden Girls. MacLachlan's most notable role was in the film Sounder (1972), where she portrayed Camille Johnson, a young teacher. Throughout her career, she had the opportunity to work with renowned actors and celebrities, including Bill Cosby, Jim Brown, James Earl Jones, Maya Angelou, and Morgan Freeman. Born in Harlem, New York City, MacLachlan graduated from Julia Richmond High School and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Hunter College. She initially worked as an executive secretary before pursuing acting.
