Janie Dee (born June 20, 1962) is a British actress known for her versatile performances on stage and screen. She rose to prominence with her portrayal of Jacie Triplethree in Alan Ayckbourn's play Comic Potential, earning her accolades such as the Olivier Award for Best Actress, Evening Standard Award, Critics' Circle Theatre Award, Obie Award, and Theatre World Award for Best Newcomer. Additionally, Dee received critical acclaim for her supporting role as Carrie Pipperidge in Nicholas Hytner's production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, which earned her an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical. She also won the TMA Theatre Award UK for Best Performance in a Musical for her role as Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly at Curve, Leicester. Born in Old Windsor, Berkshire, Dee trained at the Arts Educational School in London and began her career as a dancer before transitioning to acting.
