Janis Siegel is an American jazz singer, born on July 23, 1952. She gained recognition as a member of the vocal group The Manhattan Transfer. Siegel started her recording career in 1965 with the group Young Generation. After their disbandment, she joined the folk trio The Loved Ones, later known as Laurel Canyon. In 1972, Siegel met Tim Hauser, the founder of The Manhattan Transfer, and agreed to join the group. Since then, the group has achieved international success, covering various genres including jazz fusion, R&B, pop, and doo-wop. Siegel has received 10 Grammy Awards with the group and was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003. She has also pursued a solo career, releasing albums alongside her work with The Manhattan Transfer.
